FAQ

Questions we are asked most

Does ADVEX award degrees?

No. ADVEX does not directly confer degree qualifications. ADVEX awards professional qualifications credit-rated by Qualifications Scotland and EduQual UK, and operates progression routes into degrees awarded by partner universities.

How long does a top-up degree take?

A bachelor's top-up is one final year of study for holders of a qualification at SCQF Level 8. A master's top-up completes the dissertation stage for holders of a recognised postgraduate diploma at SCQF Level 11. Actual duration depends on the mode of study and the awarding university's requirements.

I hold a Thai Higher Vocational Diploma (ปวส.). Can I enter a top-up directly?

It is assessed individually. Thai and Scottish credits are measured differently, so we do not make a blanket claim of equivalence. We assess your transcript against the entry criteria and confirm your entry level at admission, which may be a two-year rather than a one-year route.

What if I have years of experience but no recent study?

Recognition of Prior Learning applies. Formal, non-formal and informal learning can be evidenced through a portfolio or a challenge test and credited towards your qualification.

Do I need an IELTS score?

Not necessarily. Candidates without proof of English proficiency may take a free online CEFR test through ADVEX or attend the ADVEX English Intensive Course.

Can international students study at ADVEX?

Yes. ADVEX is authorised to accept international students, and learners enrolling in OPEC-approved programmes may apply for a Non-Immigrant ED Visa for up to four years. See the international students page for the full process.

Do I have to attend the graduation ceremony overseas?

Attendance is optional. Ceremonies are held by the awarding university in its own country; travel, accommodation and associated costs are the graduate's own responsibility.
